In April 1942, The Saturday Evening Post printed a series of articles by Philadelphia newspaper reporter Carl W. McCardle about Dr. Barnes and the Foundation titled "The Terrible-Tempered Dr. Barnes."  Dr. Barnes broadcast this speech on April 9, 1942, in an attempt to set the record straight about the philosophy and activities of the Foundation, which are closely linked to Dewey's principles of education.
